CARMINES!!! the best chicken scarpiello i have ever had, order the chicken scarpiello there. its in a brown sauce with hot cherry peppers, sausage and chicken pieces TO DIE FORE, for dessert trie caffe napoli, if u want amazing italian food go to arthor avenue in the bronx, all restraunts there are zaggats rated, the best are enzos, marios and robertos. all better then anything u’ll find in manhattan!

Babbo on Waverly Place across the street from Washington Square Park - very expensive and you must have a reservation and book ahead - but, the food’s fantastic.

More reasonably priced is Il Cortile in Little Italy - pretty restaurant, good service, excellent food - much more affordable than Babbo.

Are we talking authentic Italian food or Italian American (red sauce) restaurants?

For authentic Italian, head over to Woodside, Queens for real Italian better than anything you’ll get in Manhattan. Most of the best authentic Italian restaurants are in the outer boroughs. The restaurant to go to here is Sapori d’Ischia.

Downtown Manhattan- Scalini Fedeli is a hit! One of the best in Manhattan.

Hell’s Kitchen- Becco is a wonderful Italian-American spot with budget prices. Keep in mind if you’re going before 8 pm, you’re going to deal with the theater going crowd.
