Cartoon Characters Wine Tasting

Click here for the greatest private party menu in NYC, hands down!! Thanks for visiting!

Picture Mickey Mouse with a glass of chardonnay?  Pluto carefully selecting the finest dinnerware and tableware?Minnie loading an interactive CD-ROM based wine tasting course for tips and hints? Not really!Alcohol of any form and the Disney Empire usually do not mix - at least for the characters themselves!  However, every year in late autumn the Epcot Centre hosts the annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World Resort. During the six-week event guests can taste fine cuisine and wines from the top “foodie” cities of the world.

Disney characters are by no means the only well loved cartoon-based creations that would appreciate the contents of a wooden wine cabinet. Brian Griffin’s drug of choice is obviously booze!  If you have any doubt, run a Google Images search where you will find that 9 out of 10 pictures of Brian show him with a cocktail glass in hand!   Other evidence comes from his frequent pleading of “whose leg do I have to hump to get a dry martini around here?Wine or beer or any kind of alcohol is absolutely essential to Futurama’s most reprehensible, yet lovable, creation.  Bender needs the chemical energy from alcohol to be able to function properly.Excessive drinking is therefore essential or he will become sober and unable to control his body. Magnets stuck to his head make him sing like a folk singer and his favourite drink is Olde Fortran Malt liquor.

Back in the real world (or a real as Disney ever gets) Epcot kitchens turn up the heat and bring out the posh dinnerware for a global tasting experience that includes sampling Camarões com Palmito (shrimp with palms) from Brazil while sipping the trendiest wines from Argentina.  The festival highlights tastes and wines from six continents, serving tapas-sized portions of regional specialties paired with recommended wines and beers to accompany.Beer aficionados can raise their steins in a Biergarten that specialises in light or dark brews.   Various souvenirs are available, ranging from simple items like a bottle opener to event cookbooks but unlike the talking dog and the bending robot, the giant mouse and his retinue cannot touch a drop!

The new pint glass for women

Many pubs scross England could soon be welcoming a new beer glass into their sweaty palms. Say hello to the ‘Schooner’ glass. The schooner glass holds a total of two thirds of a pint. The move follows mixed pressure from the pub trade which wants the option to sell stronger beers and ciders in smaller measures. Reports have also claimed that this beer glass will give females a chance to order a beer in a smaller measure as reports have suggested that women think the pint is too much.

Pint glasses were too big and got hot in the sun so the Aussies created a schooner which is half the size and half as manly. Why people think that same methodology will apply to us in beyond me but pub landlords in the UK are taking it very seriously indeed. Yet, some critics from around the country are scared that the schooner will create a boycott effect on the pint glass. There are three different variations for a pub; pint, half pint, third pint. The smaller glass will no doubt cause a huge amount of confusion for any pub’s glassware and cutlery as the glass itself looks almost identical to a pint glass and there will no doubt be mistakes. However, many people are in favour of getting this new pint glass as the idea to drink less is always a prefered incentive. It is the same with wine glasses. In loads of clubs and pubs they will only ever sell a larger glass wine glasses in the bar and in their dinnerware.

The Scottish Licensed Trade Association said there was no call for the two-third pint measures saying, ‘What good is this going to do anyone?’. Science and Innovation Minister Lord Drayson said: ‘There is no question of replacing the British pint, but introducing the option of a brand new imperial measure is good for consumers and providing them with far more choice.

The perfect meal for two..

So, what would be the perfect meal that you could cook for a loved one? There are a lot of options in terms of what to cook and what not to and it is difficult to find the right one. It is hard deciding what to cook for your loved one so I have listed some ingredients and a step by step guide on how to cook it.

I started looking at recipes and ingredients on the BBC website, I have selected one in particular that I think would be good to cook for your partner. The first meal that I have selected is a vegetable and salmon bake. It will take just twenty minutes to prepare and roughly 10 or twenty minutes to cook. It is very easy to cook and the ingredients are very well priced.

Here is a step by step guide on how to prepare this meal;

1. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7
2. Place the cream in a saucepan over a medium heat, and, when warm, add the potato and leeks and bring to a simmer for 3-4 minutes.
3. Remove the cream mixture from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Gradually add the egg yolks and cheese, whisking constantly until all the cheese has melted.
4. Add the salmon and pour into an ovenproof dish. Top with extra cheese and place into the oven to bake for ten minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
5. To serve, place the chives on top of the dish.

By following these guide lines properly you should be left with a lovely looking, healthy and delicious meal for both of you. Other things to think about whilst preparing a meal like this are the tableware, cutlery and glassware. These are definetly items that you will need for a perfect candle light dinner with the mrs.

Good luck cooking and I hope this recipe works! I hope you have enjoyed this recipe, happy cooking!

Setting a stylish and attractive dining table is an art and a beautiful dinner setting will make your dinner guests feel extra special. The trick to an attractive dining table is simplicity.

Choose dinnerware that is durable and dishwasher proof. My personal preference is for all white crockery and stainless steel cutlery in a contemporary design. But, whatever your taste, you want your dinnerware to last for more than just one meal so be certain to check that the crockery is chip and scratch resistant.

Another thing to consider, when buying a dinner service or cutlery set, is can you buy replacement items. Inevitably plates and bowls will eventually get dropped, broken, cracked and chipped. It’s really good to be able to replace the odd item without having to buy a complete new dinner service.

This is equally important for cutlery. My partner is often too lazy to open his tool box and will sometimes reach for a dinner knife to use as a screw driver. Over the years we’ve been together I’ve had to replace quite a few knives and spoons that he has chosen to use as tools. So it’s good to be able to buy replacements.

But there is much more to setting an attractive table than the plates, bowls, knives and forks. Glassware is also important and again I recommend simple, but stylish. It is recommended that you choose glassware that is dishwasher safe and keep a good stock of glasses as they often get broken. I suggest that you make sure you have enough wine glasses and general purpose tumblers and maybe a few shot glasses or beer tankards if you like. And if you like a little bit of champagne then you will probably want to make sure you have a set of nice champagne flutes.

Crisp linen or cotton napkins are always preferable to those throwaway paper ones. I recommend a set of practical place mats and coasters for daily use but then I choose a lovel crisp white table cloth with some matching napkins for dinner parties.

Choose and attractive centrepiece for your table and you will be ready to serve the food and wine. But that will be a whole new story.
